Perfect place to stay on a budget in Zurich

I stayed in hotel Zurich with my husband and another couple. This was our first stop on arrival in Switzerland, and we are glad we began our holiday with this comfortable hotel . Hotel Zurich has everything an international traveler is looking for - a) location is right next to tram station as well as train station b) neat , compact yet highly well - planned rooms - with some storage spaces. c) gym and sauna . We found the sauna to be a BIG plus . It helped relieve our sore muscles at the end of the day . d) MOST IMPORTANTLY- the staff at the hotel ( particularly in reception area ) is highly responsive and polite . I think it’s the hotel staff that made my stay memorable n comfortable . Would specially like to thank Sophia and Salah for their efficient n proactive help in locating an item I forgot in my room while checking out. I had moved to my next destination- Lucerene when I discovered I forgot something important at the hotel . Thanks to the perseverant efforts of Sophia (who followed up on the item with housekeeping staff) I got an email from the hotel informing me that my lost item was found and I could collect it at my convenience. Sophia’s processional, efficient n highly helpful nature is noteworthy. She ensured both check in and check out processes were fast n seamless. When I checked in she patiently jotted down the best possible bus/tram routes from the airport to the hotel . This information was of big help and perhaps the hotel can publish or display it at all booking sites. I am attaching the same as a picture for other travellers.

Decent hotel only 5-min tram away from city centre

The hotel was in a great location, only a 5-min walk to the tram stop and 5-min tram into the main town centre. The rooms were a great size, with a comfy big bed and all the necessary amenities. The only minor negative is that the bathroom door is frosted so you have to be quite comfortable with the person you’re staying with.

Refusal to cancel double booking. Unfriendly staff with no local language knowledge.

I’ve had made a double booking because the confirmation of the Züri by Fassbind was not send out in time. The hotel refused to cancel the double booking, even though I called immediately after the first booking showed up. The receptionist insisted that the booking can’t be cancelled in the hotel. Pure milking of clients.

By far one of the worst hotels I ever visited. Concierge was impolite, indifferent to the clients needs and totally unwilling to accommodate, location is far off the city center in a rather dodgy neighborhood, the rooms small and basic. One can definitely do a lot better once in Zürich!

A great location for the trams, although slightly off the beaten track. An unusual hotel with zero ambience or comfort in the public areas. Having said that, the room was clean and well serviced just no fripperies. Zurich hotels are expensive so this is probably a good place to be based.
